Great worker in the room who adds energy to everyone … gained valuable experience last season … wrestles with great technique.
At West Virginia in 2010-11: Earned a 7-3 record for the year … came in third place at the Washington & Jefferson College Open, defeating Pitt-Johnstown’s Steve Makin by a 3-2 decision to end the tourney with a 5-1 mark … achieved a second-place finish at the Navy Classic, going 2-1 on the day and losing to Navy’s Matt DiMichiel in the championship bout … beat Bucknell’s David Thompson and Navy’s Oscar Huntley at the event … earned a dual start at 174 pounds versus Ohio’s No. 16 Nick Purdue, losing by a major decision ... won four consecutive bouts between the W&J and Navy Classic … had one major decision win, three near-fall points and 12 takedowns … also had two pins for season ... named to Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.
At West Virginia in 2009-10: Filled in throughout the season in the starting lineup, earning six starts for the year at 184 lbs … had a 1-9 record, going 1-4 in the EWL and earning three dual points … registered five takedowns for the year … defeated Cleveland State’s Daniel Michaels, 8-7, during the regular season … competed at the Navy Classic … also wrestled at the EWL Championships, eventually falling to McMichaels of Cleveland State and Jeremie Cook (Lock Haven).
At West Virginia in 2008-09: Did not see action on mat.
At West Virginia in 2007-08: Received a redshirt.
Prep: Captain of wrestling team at Hayfield Secondary High as a senior … all-region and all-district wrestler … placed fourth in AAA Virginia state championships.
Personal: Son of Jim and Laura DeSano … birthday is Aug. 7 … one of five children … majoring in marketing … Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll.
